My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In light of the instructions given by His Excellency, Bishop Joensen, who is following the recommendations of the Governor regarding large gatherings of people, the following is in effect immediately at the Basilica of Saint John:

1. Daily Mases will be continued at 12:00 Noon Monday through Friday.
2. ALL WEEKEND MASSES WILL BE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THERE WILL BE NO MASSES OR CONFESSIONS ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS. WITH THE BISHOP’S PERMISSION FATHER WILL CELEBRATE MASS AT 10:30 AM ON SUNDAYS SO THAT IT CAN BE STREAMED LIVE ON THE WEBSITE AND ARCHIVED, ASSISTED BY THE NECESSARY MINISTERS.
3. The scheduled Penance Service is CANCELLED.
4. The remaining Fish Fry Suppers and the Stations of the Cross are cancelled for this year, as well as the Seder Meal.
5. The Bishop has lifted the obligation to attend Sunday Mass until further notice. It is our sincere hope to be back to our regular schedule for Palm Sunday and Holy Week, but we will have to see how things develop.

Use your common sense during this difficult time. Remember that if you feel sick in any way, stay home so that others may remain well. When entering and leaving the Basilica, use the hand sanitizer that is provided. Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. Substitute Mass attendance by extra prayer and fasting that the Lord may soon bring an end to this present challenge. Please remember that the Basilica still has to function financially. Please use the online giving, mail in your sacrificial offering, or drop it by the office. Do not despair. The Lord is in charge!
