Based on the new CDC guidance, and in consultation with our local medical experts, the Diocese of Des Moines is now removing its strong recommendation for mask use, and will no longer require masks to be used during the distribution of Holy Communion. Effective immediately, the following guidance has been provided on the Diocesan website:
Masks are optional for the faithful and clergy during Mass and other indoor activities. We encourage everyone to discern the use of masks based on their own health and potential immunity to COVID-19
