Altar and Rosary Society is an organization of men and women whose primary purpose is to assist with the spiritual aspects of the Basilica of Saint John.  We provide financial and volunteer support in many areas.  We honor prayer petitions brought to us and other spiritual needs as requested by the pastor.  We consider and honor other needs that will directly benefit the growth or support of the faith community of the Basilica of Saint John.

In addition to the $10 annual dues paid by members, we hold our annual Salad Supper and Card Party in May and may have bake sales to serve specific needs. The proceeds from these events help to fund many and varied needs of the Basilica as noted below.

• Welcome new parishioners

• Purchase flowers for the altar

• Organize and host potlucks and receptions

• Organize and host funeral dinners

• Provide the altar linens and replace as needed

• New vestments for the Pastor 

• New cassocks

• Contributed to restoration of the dome above the altar

• Helped fund kitchen renovation and new stoves and freezer 

• Contributed to the new boiler

• 50 new robes for the choir

• Contributed to tuck pointing the church and rectory

• Contributed to the Memorial Garden

• Contributed to the elevator

• Funded the cost of moving the obelisk at the front of the church
