My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are celebrating in these weeks the joy of the Easter mysteries as we recall all that the Lord has done for us. We had a very good Triduum and celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection. On this first Sunday of May we rejoice with our children who will be receiving their First Holy Communion. Later this month His Excellency Bishop Joensen will also be here to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The Bishop has given us permission to proceed with installing a new sound system. We will also update our video equipment at the same time. A very good company from Minneapolis will be doing the work, which we hope to complete by September. The new sidewalk in front of the Basilica has been poured and we are now investigating some leakage in our bell tower. All in all, we are keeping ahead of needed repairs and updates for our beautiful Basilica.
We are basically back to normal now. Mass attendance is up and there are many activities taking place in the parish. I think most of us are looking forward to better weather now that the winter season is behind us.
Let us continue to strive for holiness and in doing in God’s will. Only in that way will we find true fulfillment and peace. May the Lord bless each and every one of you! You are remembered in my daily prayers.
Sincerely in the Lord,
(The Very Reverend) Aquinas M. Nichols
Pastor
